“Hope for Haitians” Dinner

November 16th, 2008

In wake of a collapsed school in Haiti that buried at least 90 students, the poorest country in the western hemisphere is left in shambles as it continues to struggle through the after effects of major hurricanes and tropical storms that claimed 800 lives this year alone.

In order to provide immediate relief, a charity dinner “Hope for Haitians” will be held at the Fox Creek Golf Club in Dieppe on Tuesday December 9th 2008 starting at 6pm. All proceeds from this event will benefit the urgent need for medical care and education for Haitian children and adults with amputations, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, stroke, leprosy, malnutrition and polio through the volunteer work of Team Canada Healing Hands.

Dinner tickets are available at $100 each or $800 per table of 8. A maximum of 150 tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis. All purchases are eligible for tax deductable receipt under federal regulations.

Please consider celebrating the Holiday Season with your staff and/or customers while providing Hope for Haitians. Companies supporting the event will have their names displayed on their tables and will be acknowledged in press releases and media interviews.

Keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Colleen O’Connell, a well-known Physiatrist working from the Stan Cassidy Center in Fredericton NB, as well as a dedicated volunteer and chair of Team Canada Healing Hands.

Team Canada Healing Hands is a volunteer rehabilitation health care team who has worked extensively in Haiti over the past six years to build sustainable rehabilitation services. Team members are dedicated health and support professionals from both the public and private sectors across Canada. Volunteers spend 7-15 non-paid days in-field giving of themselves and their expertise to promote and encourage provision of quality physical rehabilitation services by local citizens themselves, in a spirit of self-determination, non-dependency, and human dignity.
